If you like to be very involved and in control of your project but need professional input and someone to represent your best interest, we would be happy to ensure your goals are achieved.
Evaluation
Not sure what your options are? Let us perform an evaluation of your structure to eliminate the guess-work. We will perform a thorough inspection of all visible damage and areas that need to be addressed and create a detailed proposal. Included will be the method of construction or repair, type of materials to be used, dimensions of lumber and specific fasteners for the application. There is a fee associated with the evaluation which will be credited to the total contract price should you secure us to complete your project. Our proposal will not only clarify the options available for your structure’s repair but also serve as a guide in order to solicit bids from other contractors, as it will specify types of materials, fasteners; etc. so each bid will be using the same material/method of construction. It will also provide you with the confidence of knowing that our pricing is fair.
Renovation
It gives us great satisfaction and pride to take part in preserving our history through all of the projects we have successfully completed for several local historical foundations. Our expertise ranges from minor renovation and repair to complete renovation of entire structures. We exercise considerable care in the process and save as much of the original lumber and as many of the original fixtures as possible.
Whatever you need to have replaced, we are confident in our ability to make it happen, from floor boards and siding to floor joists, posts and beams, rafters, sliding doors, foundations, and more! We have the ability to jack and shore the structure to replace or repair heavy structural members. We can also repair and replace deteriorated foundations. If it is not your desire to have repairs done to match original construction but with the highest structural integrity, we can replace faulty stone foundations with poured concrete.

- Notch all posts that support headers (providing extra flooring and roofing support by not relying on fasteners alone).
- Use the highest quality trusses, constructing our own rafters and installing them with a seat notch for added strength and support.
- Use pressure treated lumber adjacent to concrete, below grade and in areas subject to moisture.
- Use fasteners appropriate for the specific application.
- Anchor posts sitting on concrete pier below grade to decrease the chance of lift.

With the many changes in today’s farming operations, your existing structure may not meet all your needs. We can reconfigure or modify your building to meet storage needs or to make daily operations more efficient.
Structural Modifications
When it comes to certain applications, yesterday’s barns were not designed for today’s use. We can make changes that will better suit your operation without compromising the integrity of the structure.

Roofing
Do you have a leaky roof? Have you incurred some storm damage? Whether it’s patching a leak, replacing metal panels or replacing rafters and the entire roof, we can get you back into business and protect your equipment and livestock from the elements.
Siding
We can match existing siding and most often use rough cut oak when replacing existing siding. If you prefer to upgrade to a maintenance-free siding, we can cover entire barns with metal in the color and design of your choice, which means no more painting!
Painting, Staining, Sealing
In addition to replacing, repairing and installing roofing and siding, we also offer services that will enhance the appearance and longevity of your barn, such as painting staining and pressure washing.

Unger Enterprise has been restoring barns on a full time basis since 2004. We have successfully taken on some projects that others said could not be done and that there was no hope for. In doing so, we have been preserving history one barn at a time with structural integrity that will last for generations to come.
